In-Depth Stories from Pet Owners & Professionals

Detailed experiences from clients and veterinary professionals sharing their perspective on our care.

Dr. Barron P. Hall, a veterinary dentist with whom I had the privilege of working with during my veterinary externship at In-Sync Exotics in Wylie, Texas. Throughout my time observing him, Dr. Hall consistently demonstrated the highest standards of professionalism, clinical skill, and dedication to both his patients and the field of veterinary dentistry.

Dr. Hall performed several dental procedures on large exotic felids during my externship—including tigers, lions, and a cougar—and I was consistently impressed by his precision, composure, and attention to detail. Despite the complexity and inherent risks of working with big cats, he conducted each procedure with calm confidence, efficiency, and a clear commitment to patient welfare.

What stood out to me most was his willingness to teach and engage with students. There were three veterinary students and multiple keeper interns present, and Dr. Hall took the time to explain each step of his procedures, answer questions thoughtfully, and create a collaborative environment in which learning was encouraged. As a third-year veterinary student eager to grow in knowledge and experience, I found his mentorship and the knowledge he shared invaluable.

Not only was Dr. Hall respectful, approachable, and composed, his overall demeanor reflected integrity and professionalism, and his interactions with the In-Sync keepers, interns, veterinary staff, and facility team were collegial and constructive.

In my view, Dr. Hall represents the very best of our profession. He is not only a highly skilled clinician, but also a teacher and role model who has positively impacted the lives of students and patients alike. I am confident in his character and his dedication to ethical and exemplary veterinary practice. Veterinary dentistry is a highly specialized and demanding field, and Dr. Hall embodies the qualities we expect of our specialists: skill, integrity, and sincere compassion for the animals he treats.

Sincerely,

Ava Underdahl

My dog, Pip (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever), is a patient of Dr. Hall, Animal Dental Clinic in Vienna, VA. Pip goes annually for an oral assessment with Dr. Hall, beginning in 2018. I take my dog to Dr. Hall, because of Dr. Hall’s superior training (Dipl. VDC), and because Dr Hall considers Pip’s unique medical profile. Pip is a dog with bad teeth and a history of seizures. Accordingly, Dr. Hall requires a blood test on site for Pip even though a recent blood test of Pip has usually been taken. Even though it is an added cost to me, Dr. Hall’s thoroughness prior to administering anesthesia sets Pip up for the best possible outcome. After the oral examination, Dr. Hall telephones me to discuss his findings and recommendations for Pip’s dental treatment. After surgery, Pip stays on site for a few hours for further evaluation, is released to go home, then returns in ten days, if not before, for a post op inspection. Office staff is also communicating developments and encouraging office visits with Dr. Hall for complications, severe discomfort or any other concerns. Pip has not had any complications from surgeries by Dr. Hall.

I feel that Pip is getting the best dental care available thru Dr. Hall and his staff. They know my dog and his history and tailor Pip’s dental treatment, accordingly.

Sincerely,

Marion Jacks

Dr. Hall, a board-certified veterinary dentist who recently provided care for my dog. As a pet owner, I have always strived to provide the best possible care for my animals. However, I must admit that in my dog’s six years of life, he had never received a dental procedure. Like many pet owners, I simply didn’t fully understand how critical oral health is to a dog’s overall well-being—until I met Dr. Hall.

When I reached out to Dr. Hall’s office with concerns about my dog’s dental health, his team was incredibly responsive and accommodating. They were able to schedule us for a consultation much sooner than I expected, and I was so relieved and grateful for that. From the moment we arrived, I felt welcomed and respected, not judged for my dog’s lack of prior dental care. Dr. Hall and his team treated us with empathy and professionalism, setting a tone of trust right from the beginning.

During the consultation, Dr. Hall took the time to thoroughly examine my dog and then carefully explain what he found. He spoke in terms I could understand, and his calm, reassuring manner helped ease my anxieties. He explained the importance of dental health in dogs—not just for fresh breath or clean teeth, but for preventing more serious health problems like infections, tooth loss, and systemic issues. For the first time, I truly understood the consequences of untreated dental disease, and I felt empowered rather than overwhelmed.

What stood out to me most was how genuinely Dr. Hall cared. He didn’t rush the appointment. He answered all of my questions patiently and gave me a clear sense of what to expect going forward. His professionalism, combined with his sincere compassion for animals and their owners, made me feel completely confident in moving forward with scheduling a dental procedure.

Thanks to Dr. Hall, I now feel informed and supported as I take better steps toward my dog’s long-term health. I have complete trust in his judgment and his care, and I am incredibly grateful for the experience. He is the type of veterinarian who not only practices excellent medicine but also builds lasting, meaningful relationships with his clients.

I strongly believe Dr. Hall represents the highest standard in veterinary dentistry, and I am thankful for the work he does every day to improve the lives of animals and their families.

Sincerely,

Dr. Barron Hall, has treated my two dogs, Luca and Luna, with exceptional care, professionalism, and compassion. Although I do not currently reside in Virginia, if I did, Dr. Hall would undoubtedly be my veterinarian of choice.

Dr. Hall is not only incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in his medical approach, but he also displays a rare passion for animal care that is both reassuring and inspiring. From the moment we first met him, it was clear that he treats every animal as if it were his own. His confident demeanor, passion in answering questions, and genuine concern for my dogs’ well-being gave me complete confidence in his abilities and intentions.

Both Luca and Luna were treated with kindness, attentiveness, and high-quality medical care under Dr. Hall’s guidance. I always felt comforted knowing that they were in such capable and compassionate hands. It is rare to find a veterinarian who is not only technically skilled but who also possesses the heart and dedication that Dr. Hall consistently demonstrates.

He is a true asset to the field, and I would trust him again without hesitation. The veterinary community, and more importantly, the animals and families he serves, are truly fortunate to have him.

Sincerely,

My name is Shannon Eastman and I am an employee at Animal Dental Clinic and have worked directly under Dr. Hall. While I have only known Dr. Hall for a little while, it is very evident that he cares deeply for all of the animals that come into the clinic, especially his patients.

Every day working with Dr. Hall, you can see how much he cares for his clients and patients both inside and outside of work. Dr. Hall reviews multiple cases prior to big procedures to confirm that he has the best techniques, he uses multiple diagnostic imaging modalities to ensure he has a well-rounded idea of how to best help the patient, and provides high quality care during all of his procedures and recovery. Dr. Hall continuously has the best interest in his patients health and advocates for their wellbeing especially with their oral health. Dr. Hall clearly explains to clients about their pets' oral health during consults, over the phone during procedures, and makes it abundantly known that if clients have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call us and ask. Not only does Dr. Hall work with everyday pets, he also works with endangered exotic animals who need dental care as well. He has been entrusted with their health because he is widely and well known in the community and cares deeply about their dental and oral care. Dr. Hall has been in this practice for over 20 years for good reason and has been continuing his own education as well as aiding in the education of others.

The whole time I have worked at Animal Dental Clinic with Dr. Hall, he has embodied the principles of what it means to be a veterinarian. He has shown integrity by always being honest and upfront with clients about their health and what he believes is best for the patients even if it is not the news they wanted but especially when it is good news. He shows respect when dealing with clients and other people in the veterinary community by learning from others, and sharing his knowledge. Most importantly he shows stewardship everyday simply by when he helps patients with their oral and dental care.

I believe that Dr. Hall is a person of caring nature, kindness, respect, and dedication to his patients best interest.

Sincerely,

Shannon Eastman

Dr. Barron Hall has been caring for my three dogs over a period of 28 years.

He and his staff have provided excellent, compassionate care each and every time.

I view my dogs like my children. I had two pugs, who have since passed and one French Bulldog.

Since all of my dogs are brachycephalic, I am aware they are higher risk to be placed under anesthesia. Dr. Hall is experienced in handling these types of animals and I felt confidant my babies were in the best hands.

Dr. Hall has removed multiple teeth in all three. He removed some at a young age, allowing the permanent teeth to not be overcrowded.

The last procedure was on my 15 year old pug, who came through without any issues whatsoever.

He and his staff provide clear and detailed instructions of aftercare. I was also provided thorough records to provide their primary veterinarian.

Dr Hall is very dedicated to his profession and to the betterment of clients under his care! He is an animal lover and volunteers to help animals around the world. I absolutely would recommend him to anyone seeking dental care for their animals.

Sincerely,

Our family became acquainted with Dr. Barron Hall in December 2022 when our dog Stella required dental veterinary care after an attack to her head/face from a much larger dog. We took her to urgent care at our local animal hospital and were told she needed dental xrays or a CT scan ideally with a board certified veterinary dentist. The concern was that she may have a fractured jaw and may need more complex care than simply removing the affected teeth.

We were taken aback at just how few board certified veterinary dentists there are in the DMV area and along with the impending Christmas holiday, the calls we made to the one or two names we located could only offer an appointment WEEKS from then.

Luckily, we found Dr. Hall's practice and were told to bring Stella in THAT MORNING. Dr. Hall performed a CT scan and confirmed that she did have a fractured jaw but that it was a relatively clean break which did not necessarily require further surgical repair. We decided to proceed with extracting any loose teeth and to allow the fracture to heal on its own.

We are very pleased with the care Dr. Hall provided us during that emergency in 2022 and to this day. That he was able to see Stella so quickly and provide the necessary and capable veterinary care from our first interaction onward has made us value Dr. Hall and his staff's care of Stella. We continue to take her for an annual cleaning and remain grateful to be in his practice.

We had an incredible experience with Dr. Hall. We had a senior pug with oral melanoma and Dr. Hall was able to extract the growth with great margins, retained as much of his jaw/teeth as possible, and our dog healed perfectly. The staff is extremely kind and friendly, and Dr. Hall is very knowledgeable and realistic with expectations. We felt like all of our questions were answered and felt safe going through with the procedure.

I was greeted by Kirsten who immediately acknowledged me and my dog Maple with a happy attitude that made us feel welcome. When it was time to be examined, Dr. Hall went above and beyond to help Maple get more comfortable rather than just shoving his hands in her mouth. It was immediately clear that he knows what he's doing, and actually cares about his patients. After the initial exam I was given some best-case and worst-case scenarios which might be found after a deeper investigation...More...

I cannot thank the staff at the Animal Dental Clinic enough. What can be a stressful experience was a very soothing one from the very start to the very end. This team is exceptional and Dr. Hall is a kind professional with many many years of experience treating all kinds of animals, from small house cats to hippopotamus. He is the dental specialist surgeon you want treating your animal.
I can’t recommend this clinic and this team enough, I am very satisfied and thankful to have had this experience!

Despite working with dogs for many years, I never had much education on their dental health. While I knew my dog’s teeth weren’t great, my general practice vet never really explained the benefit of dental care. I spent a lot of time discussing with Dr. Hall and getting much more information not only the procedure but also the harm that comes from poor dental health. I noticed that my dog wasn’t as comfortable eating and one of her teeth actually fell out on its own. Animal Dental Clinic was able to fit me in quickly allowing my dog’s pain to be addressed sooner rather than later. The staff assisting Dr. Hall with his work also have a large love for animals and made me feel much better about my dog being under anesthesia...More...

Dr. and Staff are MAGIC! we have a 8 year old service dog who is our daughter's epilepsy alert savior.
Dr. Hall got down on the floor with Rio to look at her teeth after our regular vet suggested she had some problems to address. Rio had a more than a few issues--aging and crooked teeth and overcrowding and pain--but she is in GREAT shape now--it's like she is a new pup all over again. The staff there was EXTRAORDINARY in their caring and kindness to our family and our Rio.

Our dog had two previous dental surgeries with other veterinarians and still had exposed roots and was in pain. I met Cristal and saw her scrubs that said Animal Dental Clinic and began telling her about Ace's experience. She told me to bring him into the clinic the next and they would take care of him. We arrived at the Animal Dental Clinic the next morning and spoke with Dr. Hall for over an hour. With previous veterinarians, they are always in a rush to get you in and out. Dr. Hall explained everything to us, showed us photos and models to ensure that we understood all of his recommendations, and did not push us into a decision. We decided to do surgery that same day...More...
